Tuesday 10th March 2009 19.45, Champions League 16 (2)

Liverpool Scorers : Torres (16), Gerrard (pen, 28), Gerrard (47), Dossena (89)

The Reds cruised into the last eight of the Champions League as Gerrard struck twice in a 4-0 thrashing of the La Liga side, with Fernando Torres and Andrea Dossena also on the scoresheet.

After Yossi Benayoun‘s winner in the Bernabeu two weeks ago, Rafael Benitez’s men made sure of their place in the quarter-finals as they inflicted Madrid’s worst ever European defeat in the competition.

These are the Reds’ reflection over the victorious night.

RAFA (the manager) : “The team had a lot of confidence and approached the game in the right way. I think the atmosphere helped us a lot as well so there are many positives, it was a fantastic all-round performance.”

GERRAD (the captain) : “We’re all really pleased. It was important to win and book our place in the last eight. It was a fantastic team performance tonight.”

TORRES (the striker) : “We showed Real Madrid that this is Anfield and Liverpool can win against any team here.”

KUYT (the striker) : “I don’t know whether or not it’s the best we’ve played since I’ve been here, but if you beat Real Madrid 5-0 overall it’s great and hopefully it will prove to be one of our biggest results.”

p/s – Mr.Gonzales sedang frust menonggeng! Kawan2 serumahnye, tolong perhatikan die supaya die tidak terjun dri level 4. Haha!

Raul : Anfield is CRAZY!!

The 31-year-old came to L4 to watch pal Fernando Morientes a few years ago – and he can’t wait to return on Tuesday for the Champions League second round second leg.

“I’m stuck for words. It’s so different: the singing in the ground and the approach to the stadium,” said Raul.

“You walk through the area with all the houses and suddenly there it is, the stadium, you can’t see it until it’s on top of you – crowded with all the fans, the noise, the passion.

“The atmosphere was incredible. It was a league game. I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like for a Champions League match – crazy.”

Raul also spoke of his admiration for opposition skipper Steven Gerrard.

“I’ve seen Gerrard win difficult games for his team so many times by scoring or making the all-important goal,” said the striker, who holds the record for most Champions League goals with 64. “He is so good at helping the side when they need him most.”

Liverpool vs Real Madrid (tonight!)

or… to be exact,

What are the odds from all of the years in the world, this year they are drawn to meet each other in Champion League ?
(I mean, the clubs.)

Gerrard and his teammates (abg2 The Reds yg lain) arrived at Bernabeu on Tuesday’s evening. The had several training sessions before Rafa decides whether Gerrard will be fit enough to play against Real Madrid.

The 1st leg of the game will be at Bernabeu Stadium, tonight and the 2nd leg of the game at Anfield would be on 10th March 2009. Liverpool is kinda lucky since they’ve got chance playing at home for the 2nd leg of the game. There are lots of advantages for that and The Reds lads must make a full use of it.

Big game for Rafael Benitez since he used to play for Real Madrid when he was younger, for Fernando Torres who loves big occasions and once scored for Atletico Madrid against Real Madrid, for Steven Gerrard for his comeback after being sidelined for almost 3 weeks (IF he’s gonna play tonight), and for Mr.Gonzales who calls himself The True Madritas and berangan to be Raul Gonzales (that explains the nickname), and also for me, The Awek Liverpool aka The True Reds.

Before this, Mr.Gonzales has never kutuk2 or said anything bad about my team, has always supported my team no matter who is the opponent. Even if Liverpool played against Manchester United, he wouldn’t say anything bad bout Liverpool coz he said, his no.1 team is Real Madrid, not Manchester United so, he wouldn’t be that concern whoever won, just wanted to see how they played the game.

But I think that won’t last long.

Somewhere between those 90 minutes of tonight’s game, I’m sure he will ‘sumpah seranah’ my team.

And if Liverpool lost to Real Madrid tonight, just so you know Mr.Gonzales, I wont be speaking to you for 24 hours.
