Me Being Busy, Me Being Almost 30

Owh, look.

Owh, look. This 423rd post is about my birthday, 4/23. Coolness!

Last week was the busiest week of my schooling schedule so far, I feel. I had to be here and there and finding it hard to catch my breath all week. On Sunday and Monday, I had to be at SK Simpang Jeram for Netball Tournament, which we only managed to go to quarter finals by the way. We lost to SK Parit Bakar Darat by only two goals. TWO! Bummer. On Tuesday, I was at school and emceeing the launch of Kem Membaca 1 Malaysia. On Wednesday, I went to PPD for choir practice. Choir practice. Yes, you read that right. 😛 Along with other 27 teachers from all Muar/Ledang, we will be singing a few songs in conjunction with Hari Guru Peringkat Daerah in Bukit Gambir on 24th May. Yes, this is a bit unusual of me, since I don’t sing that much. In fact, I don’t sing at all. Haha. I was offered the spot by my friend since there weren’t enough teachers volunteering for this. I only thought of the cert I would be getting so yeah, why not. New experience. 🙂 🙂 😀

Also, apart from being busy as a bee, on last Thursday, 23rd April 2015, I officially turned 29 years old. In the previous years, I used to ignore the age I was turning because I know I always looked younger than my age so who cares about the number (bitch slap me please), but this year…. Ahhhh! 29 years old!!! This is my last year of being in my twenties and somehow I feel so sad. Not to mention, so old!! Owwhhhh the big three O next year! Where did the time go??

Pre-celebrated my birthday with hubs after school.

Pre-celebrated my birthday with hubs after school.

I don’t know about you guys, but here’s my question. Have you ever felt like the time’s running out for you? Like, there are so many things you wanna do but you haven’t done them yet due to other priorities in your life and if you wait a second longer, time is up. Things like, traveling, climbing mountains, river-trekking, sky-diving, diving with sharks? Maybe. You know, crazy things like that. Sometimes, I do feel that time’s running out for me. I’m almost 30 and only managed to do 20% of those things. Maybe 10% of those things, I don’t know. I’m getting older and maybe I won’t have time and energy for any of that anymore. Sigh…

Okay, I know what some of you might think. Every time I reflect on my life, I know I always sound ungrateful. Haha. No, that’s not my intention. I’m blessed for a lot of things too. In my twenties, I secured a scholarship to study abroad, did and saw a lot of things there, got a degree, got a job, bought my own red baby car, got married to a man of my own choice, and the biggest of all, in my twenties, I managed to buy my own house. Alhamdulillah. Who knows what’s in store for me tomorrow? Maybe I would buy a second car, maybe I would start my Master, maybe I would even get pregnant? Hahaha. Who knows..

Anyway, life’s so short right? You have to make every single second count and not to waste any, especially, when you’re in your final year of twenties.

With that being said, let’s go back to my LET reports. The due date is on 29th April. Gotta do it fast or my boss will go nuts.

This is one dashing task I tell you.

This is one hell of an ‘adventurous’ task I tell you.

Owh, got extra class tomorrow too. Yeay!

Happy birthday to me.

Owh, I want this! Chocolate malt ice-cream cake!!

Owh, please make me one of these chocolate malt ice-cream cakes!!

Mr. Crab And Mr. Squid

So tonight I would like to share one of my lesson plans that I designed for my Year 3 kids. It was not in the textbook because I created it myself. So, please expect some flaws. Haha

Lesson 1 : LISTENING / SPEAKING I wrote this story myself so it was kinda weird. And.. Mr.Crab and Mr.Squid? Where's Spongebob?

After I read them the story, I asked them simple WH Questions such as, ‘How many characters in the story?’ “Where did Mr.Crab live?’ and etc.

I wrote this story at 3 a.m. I just couldn’t find the best, simplest and easiest story to teach Simple Past Tense on the internet, so I had to come up with my own story. I dunno why I chose crab and squid as my characters, but these two characters remind you of something right? Haha. SPONGEBOB!

If you look at the ending of the story where the food was gone, I was actually so sleepy and exhausted at that time. I didn’t know how to finish the story, so sengaja buat tergantung. Kunun2 nk suruh my kids sambung cerita la and it worked. Haha

Lesson 2 : READING They colour the sentence halves based on the story that they've learnt in Lesson 1.

Lesson 2 : READING
Match the sentence halves based on the story.

Answer and colour. Colour and answer.

Answer and colour. Colour and answer.

This is what I did in Lesson 2, after doing shared reading. First, I asked them to retell the story using picture cards that I pasted on the board and then, we moved to this activity. Basically, they just had to choose the correct phrases based on the story, but to add more fun in it, I asked them to colour it. They loved colouring. Semua pun nk warna. Gambar Mr.Crab and Mr.Squid yang memang dh berwarna tu pon nk warna lagi..

Lesson 3 : WRITING A good platform to expand their ideas.

Lesson 3 : WRITING
A good platform to expand their ideas.

Talking about outside the box huh?

Talking about outside the box huh?

Here is the best part. I asked them to throw me ideas about what happened to the food. At first, class was a bit quiet because they thought I expected some serious answers, so I started to give examples, ‘The food was gone because Mr.Crab didn’t like it and he threw it away.’ After that, one by one gave me weird funny answers. I wrote properly on the board and asked them to choose any three of the answers and write them on the task sheet.

Lesson 4 : GRAMMAR Simple Past Tense yaaww..

Lesson 4 : GRAMMAR
Simple Past Tense yaaww. (I suck at writing simple instructions!)

Since the story was in Past Tense, I thought it would be good if I focused on the Simple Past Tense used in this story. I explained about Past Tense and gave examples such as ‘had’, ‘went’ and ‘shared’ from the story. Then, I asked them to help me find few more Past Tense verbs and list them down in the task sheet above.

Lesson 4 : GRAMMAR Match and match and match!

Lesson 4 : GRAMMAR
Match and match and match!

Then, match the verbs in Past Tense to the root words. Of course, I gave an example on the board before asking them to do it by themselves.

Lesson 4 : GRAMMAR Fill in the blanks!

Lesson 4 : GRAMMAR
Fill in the blanks!

Lastly, ‘Fill in the blanks’ exercise as the closure of the grammar lesson. For some reason, they said this exercise was the hardest. I didn’t give examples but I told them the answers were all in the story that they have just read. I helped them with the first two questions, then, baru la diorg boleh buat sendiri. Maybe my instructions were not clear.

For ‘Language Art’ lesson, I just asked them to do a role-play. I divided them into several groups and they presented it in front of the class. I know there were only two characters in the story, but I asked them to insert the ending of the story by themselves (like what they did in Lesson 3) and there, they could add more characters. So, every group presented different ending of the story. One of the groups came up with something like this,
‘The food was stolen by a witch. The witch gave the food to her assistant and children.’

Some even acted as non-living thing, like bubbles.
‘The food got into a huge bubble and the bubble took it away. When the bubble got into the surface, it burst!.’

It was funny but quite tiring especially when you handled a group of over-curious and over-excited students.

Owh, I just love teaching!

p/s – It’s 12.02 a.m. now so Happy Birthday to me! Haha

You Know You’re Getting Old When The Candles Cost More Than The Cake

That’s the number I’m turning to right now. Alhamdulillah, I am still here living healthily, have enough food and drink, have a good stable career, have enough money (I’m still hoping for more money tho), and the most important thing, I feel soooo blessed that I could live for another year surrounded by the most awesome people in the world; friends and family. Thank you everyone for your beautiful wishes and thoughtful prayers, be it through SMS, messages on Facebook and e-cards, I appreciate it all so much. You guys ROCK!

Well, as obvious as it is, I’m gonna say that this year’s birthday is way more special than the previous years, it’s because of one thing, or rather one person,

A Husband. 🙂

He beria2 asked me to check my email yesterday. I have two yahoo emails that I’m currently using at once, so when I check on my f_hamie email, I didn’t see anything special. Facebook notification je berlambak2. So, I signed in to another email, zatulhami_86, then I saw his name. I clicked on that, and laughed.

He sent me a poem! His self-written poem, well not 100% but it was kind of the same idea. While downloading the file, I couldn’t help but thinking, ‘Boleh ke dier write poem ni… Mesti lawak gile!’ Once it was downloaded, then I started reading.

If it wasn’t because of my mom was also in the same living room with me watching TV, I might cry reading it.

There are about 25 lines in the poem (YES, I COUNT THEM). I’m not posting the whole poem but what I have here, some of my favourite lines.

“Happy Birthday to the love of my life,
Happy Birthday to my partner and my best friend,
I am so lucky to have you as my wife,
A wife like you is so precious,
Compared to any Evo 10, EK or even my MAV.”

Haha. Funny in a sweet way! That’s my husband you see, FUNNY, SWEET, CHARMING, a little bit blurr at times but I LOVE HIM with all my heart. He’s just the guy I’m looking for.

Thank you my love! Mmmuah!

Owh, he sent me a song too. It’s called Rindu Setengah Mati by Dmasive. Yes hubby syg, I rindu u setengah mati jugak. See you this coming Friday okay?

Okay, last thing before I sign out,
