New Crush Alert!

I just got over my crush on James Marsden and now I land on one again! Sighhh…

Few weeks ago, I caught a Cinderella clip on FOX, which would be premiered on that channel in a week time or so. I was kinda excited because I remember planning to watch Cinderella in the theatre but I didn’t manage to watch it at that time. It’s the well-known fairy tale Cinderella, everyone knows the story, everyone knows the villains, everyone knows the perfect happy ending. Owh and it’s Disney. What do you expect from Disney movies? Easy plot, light, not much conflicts and of course, the most important one, it’s almost always a happily-ever-after kind of story, which I like. 🙂

One thing that I like about this particular movie directed by Kenneth Branagh, is how they keep it as close and classic as they can to the original one, with a lil bit more details here and there. I think it’s nice to see this original most anticipated Disney movie be transformed into a real film without changing the storyline too much. Of course we wanna see the real Cinderella and Prince Charming in human forms (not animated ones) because we wanna see who got what it takes to be the Cinderella and Prince Charming, right?

These people did!
Lily James (Lady Rose McClara from Downton Abbey)
Richard Madden (Robb Stark from Game of Thrones)

I love Lily James, the Cinderella. I think she could pass as a real life princess, but I ain’t gonna talk about her. I’m gonna talk about my celebrity crush right now. It’s none other than, the Prince Charming (duh!). This character was portrayed by Richard Madden. I mean, if you watch Game of Thrones, you’d know him as The King of The North. I don’t watch it tho, it’s too violent for me. Plus, they don’t air this series here in Malaysia hahaha. Anyway, siding aside that he’s super gorgeous, perfect and SO GOOD-LOOKING with his blue eyes like a real prince (which he could pass as one too), I also love his husky voice and later when you watch him in the interview clips where he was outside the character and being himself, you’ll love his laughs and his Scottish accent too. He’s just so very perfect I can’t even describe anymore. His smiles and laughs are going to murder my soul, seriously!

Here, my favourite scene of all from the movie, where Mr.Kit (the prince) met Ella (Cinderella) for the first time in the forest. According to the interviews, this scene took place on the first day of the filming where they (Richard and Lily) also met for the first time and barely knew each other. It added more to the magic of this scene, didn’t it? Too many first-times.

If you’ve watched this particular clip above, you’ll notice how cute they’re together like a real couple. Even Rachael love them together. And… Did you hear what they said in the end of the clip? That they’ll be working together again? With the same director? AS ROMEO AND JULIET??!!!

This one I find it hilarious! Like really, I still giggled and laughed after countless times watching it!

Sigh.. After James Marsden, now it’s Richard Madden. Wonder who’ll be next?

Ground Control To Major Tom

A few days ago, Fox Movies aired this Ben Stiller’s movie entitled, The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty. I’ve never watched this show before or known anything about it, like is it based on a novel or is it a real story (it is an adaptation of a short story by James Thunder in 1939, later I checked).. I didn’t know, but I was really attracted to watch it because, of course, the trailer seemed interesting but most of all, the soundtrack of the movie, Space Oddity by David Bowie. It is an old song but full of meanings. As quoted by Cheryl Melhoff, ‘it is a song about courage and adventures to the unknown’. Yeah, something to do with the movie too.

Space Oddity by David Bowie

Ground Control to Major Tom
Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills
and put your helmet on
Ground Control to Major Tom
Commencing countdown,
engines on
Check ignition
and may God’s love be with you[spoken]
Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two, One, LiftoffThis is Ground Control
to Major Tom
You’ve really made the grade
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it’s time to leave the capsule
if you dare

This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I’m stepping through the door
And I’m floating
in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today

For here
Am I sitting in a tin can
Far above the world
Planet Earth is blue
And there’s nothing I can do

Though I’m past
one hundred thousand miles
I’m feeling very still
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much
she knows

Ground Control to Major Tom
Your circuit’s dead,
there’s something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you….

Here am I floating
round my tin can
Far above the Moon
Planet Earth is blue
And there’s nothing I can do.

So, I googled it. I googled the song and the meaning of it. You can look at it in all directions because different people have different views, but here’s what I thought. First I thought it was a song about an astronaut who lost contact with people at the ground control and might not be able to make it back to Earth. Yes, it seems like it when you look at the lyrics. Very literal.

But it also can be interpreted in a big picture, which is maybe about a person who is stressed up in life and sick with other people’s expectation of him/her (And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear), so s/he decides to keep their distance away from the surrounding (Now it’s time to leave the capsule) (I’m stepping through the door) and hoping to look at the world with different perspectives (And the stars look very different today).

Even after distancing him/herself from the world, s/he still doesn’t get what s/he wants in life (Though I’m past one hundred thousand miles, I’m feeling very still). Something is still missing, doesn’t know what it is. S/he is drown in own problems and wants to forget the world/people and everything that s/he used to care about (Planet Earth is blue, and there’s nothing I can do) and ready to give up and say goodbye.

Wow. This is getting deep, isn’t it?

This is just an interpretation. You might have one on your own too. Hehe

People, if you haven’t watched the movie (The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty) yet, please please watch it. It’s kinda funny too seeing I might have something in common with Walter Mitty. Sometimes, I’m also a dream machine like Walter Mitty, especially when it comes to fantasy revenge to people I hate haha, but the sad truth is, fantasy revenge doesn’t work out the way we want. Why owh why….

Anyway, it is a very good movie and still got me thinking even after a few days watching it. It makes me wonder, ‘what’s my biggest achievement in life?’ ‘am I happy and satisfied with the still life I’m living (you know, being a teacher blah blah blah)?’ ‘don’t I wanna do more than being stuck in the system that I hate?’ and question after question pop up in my mind.

One thing that I hope I have in common with Walter Mitty is,
I wish someday I have his guts to be spontaneous. I wish I can just drop everything and see the world through my own eyes like he does in the movie. Not as a tourist, but as a traveler. This reminds me of Sean O’Connell too. I wanna be a traveler like him.

Brothers And Sisters’ Moments

I’ve been watching Brothers and Sisters for the whole weekend. I am not sure what attracted me to watch this series in the first place, but I think it started when I was in Aussie, and up until now I really really like it. But it is sad that I only get to watch until season 3, even though it’s now already season 5. 😦

My favourite character would be Kevin Walker, the cute+witty gay brother.

This is one of the scenes in the series, the last episode of Season 1, #23, Matriarchy, Kevin Walker and Senator Robert’s brother, Jason Mccalister. Even though I prefer Kevin and Scotty Wandell who he finally ends up with, but I kinda dig this scene too. It’s one of my favourites.

Kevin Walker, Jason Mccalister

Ahhhhhhhh.. Can you feel the heat?? Haha.

I was thinking of inserting the kissing scene as well, but then… Hm.. Not everybody is a fan of gay kissing, so I’m just gonna leave it at that. Haha

Maybe next time I’ll post my other favourite scenes from this series.

As Blue As DORAEMON!!!

Hi bloggers, readers! Today, I wanna make an entry bout my favourite childhood cartoon and some memories that lie together with it. This is after the children who suffer from child abuse, and to support the campaign of ‘Stop Child Abuse’. Hm.. This is the least I can do.

Doraemon Ang Ang Ang

Doraemon is a robotic cat from future. He comes through time machine that actually linked to Nobita’s drawer in his room (Nobita is his best friend btw). His main job is to help Nobita who’s (a loser) always in problems, be it school+homework problem or monkey love problem with Sizuka. Not forgotten, he always got bullied by Giant and Sinyu.

Nobita and Doraemon

After borrowing Doraemon's gadgets, Nobita always misuses it and it brings back the troubles to himself. Thats why Nobita slalu kena mara ngn Doraemon.

Doraemon and the time machine

Doraemon and buluh terbang

Doraemon and Pintu Suka Hati. I think until now I still hear people say, 'If only Pintu Suka Hati Doraemon does really exist!' We wont need cars, buses, even planes anymore. Haha

Doraemon has a little sister, Doralin. Some version says, it's Dorami.

I admired all his gadgets from future that he kept in his magic pocket, like the famous ones, Pintu Suka Hati a door that could bring us anywhere, ‘Buluh Terbang’, a gadget to make us fly, ‘Alat Pembesaran dan Pengecilan’, a tool that can make us shrink, and many other cool gadgets. It was aired during Maghrib (dusk) and house rule, ayah would not allow us to watch the TV during that time, to respect Maghrib. Plus, it was actually the best time for us to pray together, recite Al-Quran and whatnot. I really really really wanted to watch Doraemon and dad always ruined my chances to watch it! Once in a while dad went to the mosque to pray, I would jump for joy, incredibly happy and cherished my 30 minutes watching Doraemon. Well, what about mom? Mom didn’t ask me to switch off the TV, but she nagged and asked to pray first, but I could stand mom. Even though she nagged alot, but she was not as scary as dad when it comes to religious routine.

Some of the things that I did to avoid praying together with dad in order to watch Doraemon, every Saturday evening, I would take shower early, and prepared myself with telekung even though it wasn’t Maghrib yet. As soon as the series stopped to make way for azan Maghrib, I would get the sejadah and prayed as quick as a lightning.  You know, sometimes I even finished my pray before the azan did. Haha. So, when dad asked to come down and pray together, I would proudly say ‘Dah smayang!’ and expected dad would allow me to watch Doraemon. When he was in a  good mood, he did, but when he was not, he still asked me to switch off the TV and recite the Al-Quran.

I was a rebellious kid. I would not switch off the TV. So what I did was, I muted the volume so dad would think that I already switched it off. So I watched the mute Doraemon lah. Hahah.

Besides loved watching the series, I also read the comics. When I felt like reading the comic, I would follow dad to the town and asked him to buy me Doraemon comics. Of course, sometimes he did, sometimes he didn’t. Sometimes I got bonus, he bought me two! There was one time when we went to my aunt’s house, I found lots and lots of Doraemon comics in my cousin’s room. There was like a rack of those comics alone. I spent my time ignoring everybody at my aunt’s house and only read the comics. I didn’t even eat until my mom forced me to. I was like, ‘Kera Sumbang’. Hahahaha. Some of the comics that I hadn’t finished reading, I brought them home. In the car on the way back, I kept holding those comics to my chest, and couldn’t wait to read it ( I cant read in the car, it makes me dizzy).

Here’s the Doraemon’s opening song. I still remember the excitement, listening to / singing this song in front of TV. AN AN AN!

So, what’s your favourite childhood cartoon??
