Ready To Kick It???

(Background music, Wavin’ Flag by Knnana, Waka Waka by Shakira and The Cup of Life by Ricky Martin)

Salam 1 Malaysia?? No, this time Salam Waka Waka!

Hey!! World Cup is today guys!!! Are you excited?? Have you decided who will you be supporting this time??? I HAVEEE!!! In fact, I’ve mentioned my teams in my previous entry right? But few minutes ago, I’ve added one more team to my list. What team is that? WILDCAT! Keep reading.

The opening concert was last night. I didn’t watch it due to some ‘political’ problems in this house (duh!) but based on the pictures posted from the concert, I gotta say, it looked awesome! It had sooo many colours, represented the diversity of cultures, nations, people that gathered in Orlando Stadium to celebrate the most  famous game all over the world, the Fifa World Cup. Celebrities like Shakira, Fergie from Black Eyed Peas were also there performing the world cup songs.

South African Prime Minister, Jacob Zuma

Whoa! The spirit!!

Shakira, during the opening concert for South Africa 2010

Speaking bout songs, my favourite world cup song for this South Africa 2010 is Wavin’ Flag by Knaan. The song is sooo pure, I love the lyrics! I think the lyrics give a very deep and meaningful meaning to the African themselves. It’s not totally about fighting to win in the game, it’s not totally about the world cup, in my opinion, I think it’s more to fighting to success in their life. It talks about the achievement that they have achieved now (being able to host World Cup) even though they were once discriminated, faced starvation crisis and etc, long time ago. The lyrics are really good! But Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) by Shakira is not so bad too. Other songs like Sway, We Are The World are also nice to listen to.

Waka Waka

In my previous entry talking bout Fifa, I’ve mentioned that my favourite teams this year are England and Spain right? Well, I would like to add, one more team. Socceroos! I had stayed in Aussie for almost 2 years, so I guess the spirit of ‘Oi Oi Oi’ is still here, somewhere in my heart. Thar’s why, I’m supporting Socceroos as well! Hehe

Here, some of the pictures of pre-South Africa 2010, the Fifa World Cup.

And here Malaysians football maniacs, is the schedule for matches (group qualification) according to our local time. So, tonight, South Africa against Mexico. Be ready in front of your TV screen, at 10.00 sharp (or earlier). It might be a boring game coz both are not favourite teams, but hey! It’s the opening game. In any tournament, you gotta see the opening and final game. That’s the rule!

My 'P' Driving License

Haha! I was so relieved that I passed this, coz if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have time to do this again. Nways, the photo was taken before I flew to Australia more than two years ago.. I think I was a bit chubby then.

Futsal Competition at SportsPlanet, Ampang

Went to SportsPlanet in Ampang to watch Futsal games last two weeks. IPBA sent IPBA Aum (what a name!!), but they didn’t manage to go to the next round after losing 3 games out of 5…………… I think. Can’t really remember. Haha! And I heard that the tournament won by RG, stands for Red Galacticos (the 3rd pic below, white jersey). Here are some of the photos taken during the games.

1st Day Practicum!!!

Sk Sri Damai, Seksyen 17 P.Jaya, that’s my school for prac. It’s not a big school (thank God!), only 298 students with 32 teachers only. I’m teaching English for Year 3 replacing my cooperative teacher, Pn. Siti Hawa. Besides English, I also have to teach computer skills to the students for ICT class. All in all, it’s quite an experience for me handling class by myself, screaming and yellin (not yet hitting!), trying hard not be crazy by these kids’ creativity, mixing with other teachers, finishing lesson plans and resources etc etc…

Life as a teacher, especially a TRAINEE TEACHER, is sucks hard!!!

Abg Owen joins the rest of the Dirty Scum Bastards!!

Mr.Gonzales called and asked me to check Soccernet. He’s so excited with this summer transfer window since almost all the big football stars join Real Madrid. So, I thought he wanted to show off about another big transfer to his club. So, while holding the phone to my ear, I check out the website and……. gasped!

(while I was still in denial, I could still hear his laugh at the other end of the line.)

On second thought, I think Owen deserved second chance to prove that he’s still got the moves, even though by that it means, he’ll play with the club I hate the most, against Liverpool!!!

Next season would be soooooo interesting!

Something funny about this news. Two years ago in Australia, Mr.gonzales had told me that someday he would like to see Owen plays for Manchester United (we weren’t a couple yet then, just friends!). It was like his dream team or something like that. And I just laughed and said that was sooo impossible and it would never happen coz I knew since he was young, Owen hadn’t got passion and interest to play for MU.

And last night, he asked if I still remember that…

It seems like he gets the dream team that he’s always wanted.  Kaka and Ronaldo play for his 1st team Real Madrid, and Owen plays for his 2nd team, Manchester United.

Suke u ekk?!

Footballer Of The Year 2009 (Steven Gerrard, Liverpool)

From ESPN Soccernet,
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been voted England’s Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association (FWA).

The England midfielder topped the poll of journalists ahead of Manchester United duo Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney to win the prestigious accolade, which has been running since 1948.

The 28-year-old Anfield hero has scored 23 goals in all competitions this season, the best tally of his career, and is leading Liverpool’s continuing challenge to Premier League leaders Manchester United as the Reds bid to land their first league title for 19 years.

The newly crowned footballer of the year said: “I’m delighted but I’m a little bit surprised. When you look at the quality of the players there are in this league, it’s a great privilege to win this kind of award.”

Reds manager Rafael Benitez had nothing but praise for his skipper, who is the first Liverpool player to win the award since John Barnes in 1990, and said it was just reward for all Gerrard has achieved this season.

“I’m really pleased for Steven,” Benitez told the club’s website. “It is fantastic for him because he was competing with a lot of good players.

“For him to be named player of the year is massive credit to him and shows just how much he has achieved.”

Gerrard will receive the award at the FWA’s gala dinner in London on May 29. The Huyton-born player follows in the illustrious footsteps of Stanley Matthews, Bobby Moore, George Best and more recently Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Steve Bates, chairman of the FWA, said: “Steven’s performances this season have been of the highest quality. His drive and desire have underpinned Liverpool’s Premier League title challenge and ensured a tight finish to the season.

“Steven is clearly in his prime and quite rightly rated one of the finest midfield players of his generation, and the FWA are delighted to honour his contribution to club and country.”

Second-placed Giggs was named the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year in April.

p/s – am proud of Stevie, am proud of The Reds! Even though Liverpool might lose the title to Manchester United, but for this award, we beat them! Hua9!

Tuesday 10th March 2009 19.45, Champions League 16 (2)

The Reds cruised into the last eight of the Champions League as Gerrard struck twice in a 4-0 thrashing of the La Liga side, with Fernando Torres and Andrea Dossena also on the scoresheet.
