Yesterday, 30th August 2008, Brisbane River Festival.
This is an annual event where every year all ‘Brisbanese’ will gather and watch the fireworks, together with family, at the Brisbane city. Unlike last year, we didn’t stand on the bridge facing the river, this year we gathered in Southbank instead, facing the city. There were thounsands of people I guess, at the festival. Yela, satu Brisbane ni gamaknye kumpul kat city tu.. Before the firework started, there were few ‘lintas langsung’ by six or seven air crafts doing the tunggang terbalik punyer terbang. Haha! The firework started at 7pm with countodwn by all ‘Brisbanese’ 10 seconds before.
Personally, I think the firework was as awesome as last year, but the overall event, I mean the songs selection during the firework, the air crafts performance, I vote for last year’s. Why..??
Here’s why. After the air crafts performance, a deejay from radio station who hosted the festival had a conversation with one of the pilots when they were flying back to their base. And, the pilot suddenly proposed to his girlfriend LIVE, listened to by thousands people at the festival, asked her to marry him!
Okay, actually there were two rumors. One said that the pilot asked his girlfriend to marry him, and another one said that the pilot actually asked all of us at the festival to marry him. I’m not sure which one is true coz I didn’t really listen to the whole conversation with the deejay. The only thing I heard was just “Will you marry me?” And I remember screaming with my friends on the bridge, “YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSS!!!” Tak ksah la dier dedicate kat sape, yg penting kitorg ckp “YES!” Hahahaha!
But that was last year. This year, there’s no such thing. That’s why this year’s River Festival kurang menarik.
Today… 31st August 2008
Today is Malaysia Merdeka Day (Independence Day). Erm.. Nothing much to say about it…
Happy Merdeka, everyone!
And of course, Tomorrow, 1st September 2008
Tomorrow will be our first day of Fasting Month, Ramadhan.
“Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Quran as a guide to mankind, also clear (signs) for guidance and judgement (between right and wrong). So, everyone of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (should be made up) by days later. God intends every facility for you. He does not want to put you to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you : and perchance ye shall be grateful.“
Surah Al-Baqarah (185)
SELAMAT MENYAMBUT BULAN RAMADHAN, DAN SELAMAT BERPUASA
